Getting your boat ready to sell
A well-presented yacht sells faster and for a better price. Here's what makes the difference.
Clean & detail thoroughly
A professional clean inside and out — hull, deck, cockpit, and cabin — is the single highest-ROI thing you can do. First impressions matter. Consider a professional detailer for GRP compounds and stainless polishing.
Fix what you can, skip what you can't
Repair obvious defects that a buyer will notice: broken instruments, leaking hatches, frayed lines. But don't invest in a full refit — sophisticated buyers understand wear, and a large recent spend rarely returns its cost in price.
Stage for photography
Remove personal items, lower the flag, tidy lines, and position the boat in flattering light. A clean cockpit table and one or two tasteful touches (a drinks tray, a chart on the nav table) help buyers imagine themselves aboard.
Documents to have ready
CE certificate, VAT paid evidence, registration certificate, all service records, insurance history, any recent survey. Having these ready signals professionalism and speeds up the sale.
Why professional photography matters
We handle the photography, but we want your input. A good shoot takes 2–3 hours in the morning or late afternoon light. We capture exterior, interior, engine room, and key features. These photos go everywhere — our site, YachtWorld, social.
